Importance of women Education:

Women education in India plays a very important role in the overall development of the country. It not only helps in the development of half of the human resources, but in improving the quality of life at home and outside. Educated women not only tend to promote education of their girl children, but also can provide better guidance to all their children. Moreover educated women can also help in the reduction of infant mortality rate and growth of the population.
Education is milestone of women empowerment because it enables them to responds to the challenges, to confront their traditional role and change their life. So that we can’t neglect the importance of education in reference to women empowerment to Chaitanya Sravanthi education forms one of its core concerns. The organization considers education to be an effective empowerment tool.
If poverty means loss of hope, opportunities and not having choices education symbolizes hope and increase in choices.

Chaitanya Sravanthi educational program aims at

  • Helping illiterate women learn how to read and write
  • Encouraging these newly literate women to become volunteers to educate other women in their respective localities
  • Increasing women’s awareness of their rights and responsibilities as citizens
  • Identifying meritorious girl students from poor families for award of scholarships
  • Providing non-formal education to adults and school dropouts
  • Implementing  Educational programs – a unique experiment started in the slums by a Mumbai-based NGO “PRATHAM”
  • Implementing awareness camps to educate women on social issues such as domestic violence and dowry harassment\
