I DON’T WANT TO DIE

It was hard to losing someone whom you love most. It was hard to lose your own people. But it happened to me. I was so scared when they said that I am an HIV +ve. But I was lucky enough to found CHS and being a member of Its women group, now i am living happily today.

My name is Basheera, aged 26 years living in the well known slum area of Visakhapatnam, A.P. I got married at early and we were been blessed with a baby boy after one year. After two years, my husband felt and sick and died. He died not because of HIV but he died because lack of enough knowledge on how to live with HIV.

Soon after my husband’s death, I happened to attend a HIV testing and counselling camp conducted by CHS. Even though I found an HIV +ve, they counselled well how to stay healthy with the help of some and drugs and healthy life style.

As a single parent, i scared how to lead rest of my life with my loving son who found HIV _ve. But CHS has supported me a lot in getting regular health checkups and they provided a loan from MACTS to set up a small business.

Today I am selling toys in the street and earning good enough to lead my life on my own. Now my son is going to school and we were happy.

Final word: People may die with HIV; People may live with HIV

It is a matter of choice whether to live or to die….

I have chosen to live…you too can…..

I want to say thanks CHS from the bottom of my heart for supporting me all the way.
