HOW I FOUGHT BACK TO LIVE

If CHS is not there, i will not be here says a 50 year old Gurrappa with a glimpse of gratitude in her eyes.

Gurrappa is a street vendor at a slum area near to her house. She sells bananas near a temple and earns a tiny income to survive herself. She feels happy in selling bananas to the devotees who visits that temple. She is one of the member of CHS SHG.

Few years back, after long working hours of selling her bananas, Gurappa is walking back to her house and suddenly she felt a bit of pain in her left breast. She thought that it might because of long working hours and strain.

Later she happen to attend a cancer screening camp set up by CHS near that slum area and had gone under screening. It was a bad day in her life. The reports said that she had breast cancer. Gurrappa got very much depressed while thinking rest of her life with suffering from cancer. She cannot afford the treatment with her meagre earnings. She started feeling sick and not working daily as she did early.

As a doctor, Mrs. Rahman the founder of CHS knew that breast cancer can be cured if treated on time. Mrs. Reman approached Gurrappa and provided a good amount of loan from the MACTS (CHS core component) for the treatment.

Today Gurrappa is happy and healthy. On time diagnosis and treatment has extended her life span. Now Gurrappa is selling bananas at the same place near the temple.

Now Gurrappa is saying that GOD did not lies in the temples. He lives in the hearts of people who serve humans….
